Anthropic is reshaping how people use its AI assistant Claude. The company is merging its regular chat feature with Cowork, its workspace tool, into a single unified interface called One Claude. At the same time, it is launching two new productivity features called Docs and Slides that let users create documents and presentations directly inside the chat.
Before this change, Claude was split into different modes. Users had to choose between a simple chat for casual questions and a separate work environment for complex projects. That friction is now gone. The updated Claude automatically detects what a user needs and offers the right tools without requiring manual switching. Whether someone wants to write a quick email or build a detailed report with charts, the same window handles both.
The new Docs tool works like a streamlined word processor. Users can ask Claude to draft an essay, edit it for tone, and export the final version in a standard format. The Slides tool does the same for presentations, generating layouts and content that can be refined through conversation. These files can be shared with teammates, which makes Claude feel more like a collaborative workspace than a simple chatbot. Existing features such as Artifacts and Claude Design are also now reachable from any conversation instead of being hidden in separate menus.
This move matters because Anthropic is clearly positioning Claude as a competitor to Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, but with artificial intelligence woven into every step. Rather than jumping between a word processor, a presentation app, and an AI chat window, users can stay in one place and let Claude handle the busywork of formatting and organizing content.
The update is rolling out to users now. It reflects a broader industry trend where AI companies are racing to turn chatbots into full platforms for daily work. For everyday users, the promise is fewer apps, less context switching, and an assistant that truly understands the task at hand.
